simianidiot: Drunks on the highway, roadblock cops, Accidents, breath tests, traffic stops, It’s New Year’s Eve in New York! Curbside Christmas trees, frozen piss, Time to drunk dial the one you miss, It’s New Year’s Eve in New York! Club kids freezing in sequinned skirts, Tipsy cougar who slurs and flirts, It’s New Year’s Eve in New York!

Why does the NYPD constantly frisk people just for... →
Why does this still happen in 2011? This essay says that it’s a part of daily life for black and brown people here - what the flying fuck. I know it’s a well-known phenomenon but it still makes no fucking sense at all and grr. I am beginning to detest the NYPD.

Just had the most terrifying dream about a humongous robot who tore skyscrapers from the ground and chucked them for fun. We escaped, barely, in hovercrafts. I didn’t want to wake from it, it was too exciting.

Did Spike have Stockholm Syndrome?
I know I’ve only watched the series the whole way through once. But the transformation of Spike from villain to ally has always struck me as tough to understand. Then I remembered that he was a hostage of the Scoobies for a good amount of time. That seems to be the time when he stopped wanting to eat all of them, and when his feelings for Buffy  start showing more. Am I remembering it...

SOPA will crush web industry innovation.
#SOPA “If you want to take a look at where the innovation is in the world, in terms of Internet coding, it’s still the US. I’m not sure if that will still be the case if this bill passes.” Representative whose name I didn’t catch because I can’t see her nametag because I’m just listening to the audio of this Congressional livestream while working as a web...

Stop SOPA, save online free speech, save web...
Sorry to scream at you, guys, but this is a legitimately awful bill that might pass, and you taking 3 minutes to call right now might make a difference. As a web developer/designer, it would interrupt my career (it makes sites liable for the content their USERS post - a nerdy distinction that could ruin my industry.) As a believer in free speech, its giving the federal government rights to...

A Love for Man-Made Things
Material lust can look unpleasant to a poor person, an environmentalist or an anti-capitalist; but adopting and caring for forgotten ephemera nestled into the cracks of the gigantic mound of throwaway shit that we made as our human world, seems natural, almost, like the only thing a pattern-seeking hairless ape can do in the face of this plastic surge.
